The 2nd LTT was held in the charming city of Porto with the goal of reducing digital waste. Our team plunged headfirst into a number of activities with the intention of increasing awareness of the negative consequences of excessive digital consumption.
Purpose
Our time in Porto was both fruitful and exciting, with discussions about web and mobile app development, infographic design, street interviews, and video production. The focus of our project was "digital waste,” which is the term used to describe the excessive collection of digital information and the detrimental effects it can have on our lives.
Discussion
In light of this, we first assessed the usability and accessibility of our website and mobile application. We improved the platforms to provide the best user experience while successfully delivering our main message.
Visual communication is essential for drawing in viewers and conveying information clearly. We spent time creating appealing infographics to engage the community and start conversations about digital clutter. These infographics offered useful guidance on controlling internet consumption and were filled with facts and suggestions. By blending creativity with educational content, we aimed to inspire individuals to take control of their digital lives.
Taking our objective to Porto's streets, we spoke with locals and tourists alike. We learned about people's digital habits, their challenges with digital clutter, and the effects it had on their wellbeing through these open talks. By telling these tales, we want to promote empathy and compel viewers to consider their own use of technology.
While our main goal was to reduce digital waste, we couldn't help but be tempted by the charm of Porto and Viana de Castello. We utilized the downtime between project tasks to stroll the quaint streets, savor the mouthwatering local food, and become fully immersed in the city's rich history and culture. We also had a great day excursion to Viana de Castello, a charming coastal town renowned for its magnificent architecture and amazing views. These outings gave our project work a much-needed break, allowing us to take in Portugal's beauty and revitalize our creative energies.
The LTT in Porto was a fantastic opportunity to meet dedicated people working to solve the problem of digital waste. Our team aimed to spread awareness and start important conversations about the subject through the creation of websites and apps, infographics, street interviews, and attractive films. Further enriching our experience and serving as a reminder of the value of balance in our increasingly digital lives were our tours of Porto and the picturesque village of Viana de Castello.
Together, let's continue to work toward a peaceful cohabitation with technology so that a more positive and uncluttered digital future can emerge.
